Box of Chocolates for Teens Feature

Some days, we wake up in the morning and feel like we are on top of the world. However, by the end of the day, we feel like the world has turned against us because we have gone through a trial, or a series of trials, in one day. By the end of the day, our head hurts, our stress level has increased, and we seek an outlet. For many, that outlet is food, drinking, smoking, or drugs. We find out that "Life is like a Box of Chocolates" and based upon other contributing factors, we do not know what to expect or more importantly what to do. We feel like our trial is unique and no one could possibly relate. We feel isolated and defeated because we do not know what to do when we face trials. Box of Chocolates for Teens is designed to walk you through scenarios that are based on real-life events. The book enables teens to realize their problems are not unique. Teens will begin to realize their trials are similar to other teens and they are not alone. The book consists of 180 scenarios that are categorized by SCHOOL - FAMILY - LIFE issues for each day of the school year. The book contains a 5-step application process to reveal the provisions God has made for our every need. The scenarios included in the books can happen to anyone, so teens are encouraged to depend on God and promises He has made to us through the Holy Bible. Step 2 of the 5-step process can be facilitated in a group or alone. The facilitated session enables participants to think about the "what if" and gives them an opportunity to proactively respond to issues they may face or someone they know may face. During the session, participants have the opportunity to respond to scenarios and share his/her life experiences.

Dark Passage Feature

It began with a rain of frogs. . . .

A strange phenomenon grips the world of today—and yesterday. A shepherd boy appears outside a scientific facility at Los Alamos, New Mexico, babbling in an ancient tongue. At the same time, two thousand years ago, mortal fear grips a queen whose murderous ambitions are boundless, as she entertains her subjects with screams of the dying men in an arena.

In one moment, time is ripped apart . . . .

Brutal jihad terrorists slip through the hole in time, on a mysterious and deadly quest to change the course of history. To stop them, three innocent people, two men and a woman, are sent back on the most exciting mission in history—to unravel a mystery and stop a killer. Back to a time when the people of Israel chaffed under the heel of Roman legions and a brutal queen used sex and murder in a scheme for empire.

Set against the vivid and violent tapestry of modern and ancient Israel, Dark Passage is an unforgettable saga of war, murder, technology, and high adventure.

The Evolving Therapist: Ten Years of the Family Therapy Networker Feature

Gathering together some of the most memorable articles that have appeared in the Networker since 1982, it chronicles the personal and professional challenges confronting today's family therapists. It looks at clinical advances in such diverse areas as couples therapy, brief treatment, approaches to substance abuse and family violence, and work with teens and small children. The Evolving Therapist traces the major debates of the last 10 years, from the therapeutic relevance of gender inequality to the ethics of constructivism. It explores the changing conceptions of the family therapist's role, while examining the impact of the decade's social, economic, and political tumult on our work.

Understanding Airpower: Bonfire of the Fallacies

Understanding Airpower: Bonfire of the Fallacies Review

Understanding Airpower: Bonfire of the Fallacies Feature

Dr. Colin Gray recognizes that there will always be defense debates. He also believes that some of the “frequently contested debating terrain” can and need to be clarified and settled. In this study, this noted strategic scholar addresses assumptions and conventionally held ideas about airpower that are wrong. Professor Gray identifies and discusses nine fallacies that: (1) the USAF should abandon large-scale regular warfare; (2) airpower is inherently a strategic weapon; (3) airpower is driven by technology rather than ideas; (4) airpower is about targeting; (5) airpower must be subordinate to land power; (6) the theory of strategic airpower is flawed; (7) an independent USAF interferes with an effective joint force structure; (8) airpower is a minor player in counterinsurgency (COIN); and finally, a longstanding issue, (9) the twenty-first century is about missiles, space, and cyber power and airpower is yesterday’s revolution. The discussion of these “fallacies” should stimulate the appetite of most thoughtful Airmen, but also serious advocates of all services and everyone interested in national defense.
